UConn Business Management Society

History

History

Corey Stahl founded BMS when he was a junior at UConn. It became official in December 2014 but did not become active until Spring 2015. Originally named “Management Society” the club changed to the Business Management Society due to the vagueness of the former. Corey started the club because he saw a need for extracurriculars for students interested in owning or managing a business. There were quite a few entrepreneurial clubs at the time, but they were all very close-knit groups focused on tech and start-ups. Due to this, he focused on alternative hands-on learning methods and strayed away from the traditional classroom setting students have to sit through on a day-to-day basis. He was a part of numerous other business-oriented clubs and picked out styles he truly enjoyed to conduct BMS meetings in as engaging a way as possible. Corey graduated just a year later but was glad to have met Ben Morneault who would become president from 2016-2019. The club did not become everything he had envisioned but he saw with Ben and now with Rachel the growth of the club which turns more and more into what he envisioned over five years ago.
